Nomophobia
Fear of Being Without a Mobile Phone
Nomophobia, an abbreviation for "No Mobile Phone Phobia," describes the anxiety and distress experienced by individuals when they are unable to access or use their mobile phones. This contemporary phenomenon reflects the increasing reliance on smartphones for communication, information access, and social connection in modern society. While not formally recognized as a distinct mental health disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5-TR), nomophobia has emerged as a significant concern, impacting individuals' psychological well-being, social interactions, and daily functioning.
